Default TaoTao 125cc idle issues, need help fast

So I got the quad for my son and put it together and went to start it and it won't run unless I am continuously on the throttle. Once I let off it stales and won't idle. I have tried the adjustment screw but that does nothing at all. This is for xmas so I am running out of time any help is greatly appreciated. I'm not great with small engines but I can work on them if told how or shown how. Thanks for the help

I had just picked up one of these as well... It wouldn't initially start. I ended up using an ez-out and a drill to remove the screws that they use to fasten the float bowl. They backed right out easy enough. I also removed the brass plug for the air/fuel mixture and cleaned the carb. Verified all the jets were clean and clear. Re-installed the carb. Pay special attn when you remove the top of the carb and the slide and needle as it will only work one way..... Snap pics as you do it if it's your first.

Once I got it back installed I started with screw closest to the air filter at 1 1/2 turn from bottom and the idle at around say 1 3/4 to 2 from bottom.

It's starting and idling as fast as I push the button now...

YouTube is also a great place to gain some confidence looking over someone's shoulder.
