Scrambler Brakes??

I Have a 1998 Polaris Scrambler. I replaced the brake pads and went to bleed the brakes when the foot brake system kept getting preasureized, that ended up being the rear caliaber needing rebuilt. So today I thought I had it all ready to go. Squeezed the hand brake and it felt soft then sqeezed it again and it wouldn't rebound. What do I need to replace NOW?
