A neighbor has an older polaris 2X4 with a 350cc two cycle and liquid cooled and 6500 miles. The last couple of nights there has been a trace of a fuel leak about 1' dia that is comming form the drain hose on the bottom of the carb. There is also a check valve in this line. On my 325 mag 4 stroke engine there is a screw to close. You can drain the bowl through this hose. On the 350 ther is no screw even close to where this hose hooks to the bottom of the bowl. I would like to know what this hose is for and what needs to be done to fix the drip.

Thanks for any advice.

I used to own a 91 Polaris 350L 4x4 that started leaking as you describe , it eventually got worse and the machine would'nt start. I took the carb out and took it apart and I found a piece of crud stuck between the float and the bowl .I don't know how the crud got past the fuel filter , but it did . I think the hose your talking about is simply a drain for the carb , there should be a oneway check valve that will allow gas out but won't allow water in . I gave the carb a good cleaning and put it back together and everything worked great . Good luck .
