Default Need quick advice on rear tires for Timberwolf 250

I restored a 95 Yamaha Timberwolf for my son for Christmas. He is 8 and loves it, however when we go to the creek, his quad struggles to get traction with the Carlisle tires. I am looking for the best tire to run on this quad without bogging it down, or making it difficult to ride. I've been looking at Kenda Bear Claws, or ITP Mudlites. The bigger question is what's the best size to run? There are some really heavy duty mud tires out there in a 24 11 10, but I don't know if the quad will move those well. I have been looking at 23 10 10s, but would be open to 23 11 10s, or anything else that you guys recommend. So, please give me some quick advice, I am ordering a set in the morning. Also, I've seen some 23 12.5 10s, and would like to know, can you run a 12.5" wide on the rear of this quad on a 10" wide rim? Again, I am looking for the best mud tire on this unit. Thanks in advance.

Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct

These are in your unit's stock size 22x11/10. They aren't specific mud tread but price is decent and would probably do better than what you have. What style of Carlisle's you have now?

Thanks, I went ahead and ordered ITP Mudlites. I wanted to be sure to get them in time. 140.00 shipped to my door from Rocky Mountain ATV. Great price and a proven tire.

According to this site 23" tires are stock on the timberwolf http://www.atvreviewnetwork.com/enth...VehicleCode=84 I,m sure a 250 could handle 24" or even 25. Is yours the 4wd version?

My 350 Grizzly 4x4 handled 26x9-12 fronts and 26x11-12 rears Zilla's without any issues and is only 100cc bigger with a larger Mid Chassis.
