I have my selection narrowed down to Dirt Devils and Bear Claws. Which of the 2 is better in snow and mud? I also wanted to know if i go with a 26inch tire on a stock 99 Xplor 400 i dont need to add any lift or anything right?

jerry, I just installed a set of 25" dirt devils on the rear of my Xplorer. In the snow they have considerably better grip than the stockers. In the little bit of mud I did find last weekend they where impressive! I've never riddin a quad equiped with bearclaws so I can offer no comparision to them.

DaBoss, I bought them from Dennis Kirk. I have a real tough time buying from anyone else, mainly because there only 15 minutes down the road from my house. Besides the fact they will beat any advertised price by a buck.

I run Dirt Devils in all types of conditions and have never been let down yet. For the price I don't think anthing can compare to them. The only fault I have with them is running the old railroad tracks...rough as heck going over the ties. But I guess you have to expect that with a 6 ply tire. At least I don't have to carry my plug kit and electric air pump any more.
Expect to get dirty in the mud...man the Devils toss it like crazy!! Ride on brother!!!

I have bearclaws on my Xplorer and am very happy with them.I have seen the dirt devils on a freinds bike and they look good but seem to have a little bit less tread than the bear claws. My brother has 4000 miles on his bearclaws and no flats yet,the front tires a at around 30% and the rears at around 50%'and they have seen a lot of hard times beleive me.Both sorts are around $410.00 so i geuss you can't go wrong either way.I tried 26x9x12 in front and 26x12x12 in back but sold them after a while and got 25x8x12 and 25x12.5x10.Found that i lost some power and handling on my bike and i am putting money with other mods to gain power so that went against the grain a little.Hope this helps.

I have Dirt Devils on my 400 scrambler 4x4 and I think they are just as good as my friends Bear Claws,he has a SP500.I can go everywhere he goes.I paid $183.00 for mine that was with shipping from Chaparral-Racing.com.I think the dirt devils clean themselfs out better then the bear claws.

The Bearclaws seemed to have more tread on the outside or the tire than the Devils, I would think the claws would be better on angled hill climbs, getting out of ruts etc...
