z400 Won't start for the new season.

Quad ran great when I put it away last fall. Pulled it out on friday and she won't even try to start. Here's what I've done so far.
-Checked for spark. Bright blue. Like lightning.
-Plug is getting soaked in fuel. Tried new plug anyway. Same result.
-Cleaned carb. A little gunky. Cleaned out. Still nothing.
Engine won't even give a pop cough or fart.
What the heck falls apart from sitting for a few months? What am I missing here?
I can't believe it would be internal. It ran like a dream when I parked it for the season. Rings and valves don't just fall apart.

I had a few machines that just needed a ether starter spray hit in the air box to get things primed and flowing again for it fist start up of the year. Once its up and primed you do not need the spray again.
Why pull 18 times when you can pull once.
Its magic in a can

Ok. So after sitting over night. It starts right up. As if nothing was ever wrong. I'm like WTF
Runs great. Take it for a rip around the yard. Pull some wheelies. Doesn't miss a beat. Shut it off. Restart a few times. I'm thinking I'm golden. Cool.
Parked it. Less than 24hrs later. Thing wouldn't start again. Doing the exact same thing. Just floods the motor. Doesn't even try.

I think I'm going to take it to the shop. I'm at a complete loss at this point. Engines don't just fix themselves.
PS: It's really cool when it it goes bang & shoots an 8" flame out the muffler in a dark shed.

That's why you don't leave machines sitting for months at a time without starting them. I don't think I've left an atv sitting for more than a month without starting it. Never needed a battery tender or fuel stabilizer. Easiest way to combat this is to simply go out every 2-3 weeks, start it up and let it warm up and run for a few minutes and then shut it off. Yeah, if you live somewhere where it gets really cold in the winter it might not be so fun to do but simply wait for a day when its not so cold and go out there and do it then. You don't need to go on an hour long ride, just let it idle long enough to let the engine warm up and get fuel flowing to keep the carb cleaned out and keep the battery charged up.

Did you drain and fill the fuel?
Sounds to me like it could be your fuel.
I had the critter problem. Couldn't get it to start at all. I was at a complete loss and really frustrated. I opened up the airbox and it was packed with fiberglass insulation. Some friendly neighborhood mice decided it was the perfect place for a nest...
