Default Yamaha kodiak power loss

I have a 2003 Yamaha Kodiak 450 and I just went from the original 25¨ tires to new bear claw 27¨ tires and immediately I noticed a huge loss in power and speed. Is it because of the tires? What can i do to get the same performance i had previously but also keep the bigger tires?

You cant. That's the sacrifice on going to large heavier tire on a small displacement ATV. Most people who go to larger tires like 27" do not care about high speed riding because they just intend on doing slower rough/Mud trails most of the time where you cant get over 30mph anyways.

You may need to use your low range more often in thick mud and heavy load situations. You can get a clutch kit so you do not have to use low as often but your days of 50 mph road riding will not come back.

What Tires did you buy? Some brands are heavier then others.

Here is a good site for Tire specs. ATV Mud Tires : Best ATV Tires you will notice Maxxis Zilla are much lighter then all tire of the same size for example.
