Default 2010 Sportsman 500 Fuel Valve

OK, here goes: I have a 2010 Sportsman 500 HO Carbed. I must be awful dense because I can't find the fuel shutoff valve. Owners manual says it is in the front rack storage box. Can't find it there. Repair manual says it is at bottom of tank, left side panel. Can't find anything in lines there either. Anyone with this model please tell me what I am looking for and where it is, or how to get at it. I want to change the fuel filter. Thanks--Lou

Owners manuals a lot of times don't keep up with current models. Did have some that had the little red valve at the front of the machines. Can't remember all the changes, but parts break down does show it. Check down under the fuel pump area also. Think I remember now.. Pop the small panel under the head light pod. Think it's under there.. Item #3. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

You were right OPT. What a place to put a gas shutoff. For safety reasons, not an easy place to get to in a hurry. Thanks again--Lou

Took a little while to remember where it was at,then I remembered I had the same thing on the first one we took out of the crate.Couldn't find the blame thing for awhile. Agree that it's a crummy place to have a shutoff valve.. What you can do is install one just like it in the fuel pump line to the carb for easy fuel shutoff when needed rather than having to pull the panel.
