Scrambler Help
#1
It has been awhile since I've posted but have always found this forum to be a great resource and excellent source of help.
I have a 1999 Polaris Scrambler 400 4x4 and am looking for a maintenance/repair manual. The links I had in the past don't seem to be working. I've recently developed a starter issue. When you push the button, the starter just clicks. I've replaced and recharged the batter but the starter still won't spin. Just clicks. I've started the bike up with the pull start and it runs/ sounds normal. I pulled the pull starter off and found a bunch of sand and junk in the housing. I cleaned all that out, but the starter still won't spin. So I'm assuming the starter must be bag. I'm sure its the original once since the previous owners didn't seem to do any maintenance work on the bike. Any ideas/ guidance to replace the starter or other thoughts? That is the main reason I'm looking for a repair manual. Thank you in advance for your help.

Can't find a free one,plus the 5 buck manuals I've found go to 98 models on the Scrambler,but here's a link for a 10 buck manual from Trade Bit.Polaris Scrambler 400 Manual
As far as the starter or solenoid being bad,use a test light or meter and see if you're getting power to the starter cable on the solenoid side and also at the starter itself when you hit the start button. Make sure all connections are tight, plus you can jump the solenoid posts with a screw driver to see if the starter works. If it doesn't cheap ones are available along with solenoids if it's the problem.Best to replace the starter and bendix at the same time. Less worry and trouble in the long run.You can find them on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-STARTER-FOR-POLARIS-ATV-250-300-350-400-HEAVY-DUTY-/151042830993?hash=item232adab291&vxp=mtr Or here.DB Electrical - 400
Plus solenoids are cheap(less than 8 bucks) if needed.Starter Solenoid Relay Polaris Scrambler 400 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 ATV | eBay
