2006 baja engine replacement
#1
hi all first day here so i dont know what im doing really,,so i hope i put this in the right place...im needing to replace the engine in my 2006 baja storm 125cc but im a bit confused, as my engine has this number on it, FY152YM1 ITS A SEMI AUTOMATIC and has eletric start,,the starter is located on the bottom of engine..i cant find this engine anywhere.. so i figured id replace it with somthing else...on ebay they have the lifan 125cc engines that look just like mine ( minus the starter) i just wanted to know if i bought the lifan 125cc would it bolt right up? as in motor mounts..i can do without the starter as those are a bit cheaper anyways. has anyone changed out the engines on this quad, with the lifan or similar engines? im not finding much at all on this kinda quad..plz help ..thx in advance

just to let others know ,,if u have an off brand engine on a chinese bike or atv ,....then any of the chinese engines will mount right up...as for the wiring,,thats another storie,,even though it didnt take long to figure it out...so heres my update and everything worked out great...just get a cpl measurments before ordering ur engine.. another thing to watch out for is the 10mm engine mount bolt and the 8mm bolt,,,the 10 wont be a 10mm anymore with the new engine,,you will need to change the 10mm for a 8mm there fore you will be using 2 8mm bolts to mount ur engine. hope this helps anyone out there...

Like I told the original poster, take a look inside the belt cover. If engine runs but no drive, and it can be pushed in neutral, chances are it is the belt. Last Suzuki 500 belt I replaced had locked up when the belt jammed in the pulleys.
