Need Help With Maintance
#1
Well after sevrvicing my friends Xplorer it seems that I have become the neighborhood Polaris mechanic..lol Which is fine with me because the local dealer gets $120 for a service and everone is happy to pay me $90 and thats easy money. Anyway I have 2 questions.
I have a 300 2WD that needs to be serviced but I dont see any place to refill the counterballance oil. Does the 300 even have a counter balance shaft? and if so where do I refill it?
Does anyone have a part#{Polaris or otherwise} for the air filters in these things that I can maybe cross referace over to a Fram or something. The dealer wants $11 for them and I think that is a total rip off. Also is there anyplace I can get the foam pre filter for cheap. The dealer want 7 bucks for those.
FYI...I crossed referanced the spark plugs over to a Champion# which is 818 RN2C. These plugs fit all 300/400 2stroke motors and Im sure it is everybit as good as the 3 dollars NGK that the dealer sells.I hate to sound like Mr Cheapo but I just hate paying dealer cost.
As Always ...Thanks
Andy G

There is no counter balance on the 300.I believe the air filter # will be 7080369. Good luck in your buisness as a ATV mechanic. I do a good bit of it as a suppliment to my farming and it does help out buying gas. You ought to branch out and try some of the other brands to .It can get really intresting at times.
