I just got a Yamaha raptor 660 as a project quad, I am 6'2" 347lbs and was curious if this quad will do alright with me being so big, I have wanted a raptor since they came out in late 2001 and now I have one I'm curious if it will be good enough for me to have fun on and go pretty fast. Plus does anyone know if the engine and vin numbers are suppose to match or not? I live in Tennessee so I'm not required to have a title for the raptor but just wanted to know if the numbers are suppose to match.

Don't know about the numbers thing but...the 660 should run ok with you on it, if you get it...show us some pics of the beast...

 

No, I wouldn't keep it as your regular ride. It looks too small and/or weak. You could use it for your first few rides, but I would get a normal looking atv (grizzly 700) as your regular ride.

 

What do you mean too small and too weak...please expalin, I'm sure he would like to know, and I would as well, and others.... LOL

 

I'm going to have to rebuild engine, it has new piston, piston ring, and pin, lower needs split and cleaned up, little work here nd there and good as new. But yeah she's pretty big,bigger than my uncles 4x4 500cc.

 

Nice! Looks like you have a bit of work ahead of you and I'm thinking you enjoy that type of thing ( I do )... The 660's were beasts...back in the day, when piped and jetted. I have owned two of them. Very reliable as well ( mine were ). Have fun and keep us posted with pics as you begin to get things accomplished on it....

 

If you look at a new raptor from the side, (like on Yamaha's Website) It looks like theres no shocks or anything holding up the back fenders. He said he was 347 lbs and wanted to go fast, If he ever goes fast and goes over a big hump I wouldn't doubt if that back fender part would just tear apart.

 

I weighed 220, wife weghed 140...that's 360 pounds and we rode fast over bumps... You know, personally, I just think your opinion simply sucks and you don't have a clue man....

Did the man ask us about his safety? The rebuildable 660 may be all he wanted or like many, all he can afford at this time. As I mentioned, which you may not have read, myself and my wife weighed 360lbs together and rode the 660 many many times, and the 660 did great. No offence, but anyone who rides ( grown men ) take responsibility for their own safety ( ATV riding can get anyone hurt, and in a second ) ....and in reality, rear fenders ( fenders don't support the rider (s) ) have nothing to do with safety, just reducing the dirt/mud that gets onto the rider and ....sport bikes don't offer much protection there anyway .
