When I installed my RCR Stage 1 kit, I put the 270 main jet in the carb. My Boyesen Power Reeds said they would make my engine run rich. My air box mod and K&N filter give it more air to lean it out. I hoped the two would equal each other out.

It runs fine but at low rpm, say when you are putting around or taking off slowly, it has a dead spot. It brrps and farts around until you give it more gas, then it's OK.

Should I go to a smaller 260 main jet or do I need to mess with the other adjustments? My spark plug is staying pretty clean and dry.

Try the smaller jet first if that doesn't work move your needle clip up 1/2 a notch.(small washer you can get at any cycle shop to adjust your needle 1/2 step) I think rick gives you this when you get the kit. This should probably fix it but maybe you should check with rick to be safe. I don't know what mods you have done to your bike or the particulars of where you live. Call him he will be more than happy to help you. He's a very nice guy as anyone here could tell you.
