Hello i am new to the forms and was wanting some opinions on what ATV i should get. i will be trail riding and i was looking at a yfz 450, trx450 and i was wondering if that's to much for what i need. i want something fast and has a lot of power is there and 4x4 atv's that provide that i will be buying a used ATV and i don't want to spend tons of money on one. i also want something that is reliable i also don't no if i should get fuel injected or carburetor or does it matter like to here you opinions thanks.

My EFI starts and runs better in the winter than my carb ATVs did but carb or fuel injection won't make much difference if you don't change elevations too much. A lot of people like 400s for trail riding. There are some 4x4s with a lot more power but most aren't very sporty. You have to decide what kind of riding you want to do first.

The 4x4 quads that are fast are usually much more expensive than sport quads too. Something like a Can-Am Renegade offers some of both but its hard to find one of those used in good condition for under 5 grand. Might be able to find an older Grizzly 660 like I have in the $3000-$3500 range in good shape and it has plenty of power for most. An older Kawasaki Prairie 650 is a pretty sporty 4x4 utility too if you can find one of those and they're in about the same price range. A Yamaha Wolverine 450 4x4 is hybrid sport utility quad that is great for trails. Its only real weakness is it doesn't have a lot of power on top end, stock they top out at about 50 mph. But it has great low and mid range power and its much smaller and lighter than any other cvt auto 4x4 quad making it quite nimble on tight trails. They can be found in the $2500-$3000 range generally.

I would highly recommend an ATV that was well cared for, in great condition and runs very well. When looking at used the name doesn't mean much, but condition means everything! Saving money by buying cheap can cost a lot more in the long run.
