Default Polaris/Warn 2.5 CI winch problem

I have a 2004 Sportsman 700 with a Polaris/Warn 2.5 CI winch installed. It suddenly quit working. Switch does nothing in either direction. I do have power to the contactor. When I checked with an ohm meter, I had continuity between the blue and yellow contacts. I also had continuity between the battery -/negative and blue and yellow terminals. I disconnected the blue and yellow wires from the winch body and then checked continuity between the blue and yellow posts on the winch motor. No resistance at all.
000.00 everywhere. I am guessing this indicates a fried winch motor???
The winch still looks like new. It was used only once for about 5 minutes. It is barely dusty, but something obviously went "south". Any ideas???

Have you tried jumping power directly to the winch? Plus I've got winches working that had been sitting by just tapping on the bodies.Sitting up this long can cause corrosion from moisture and non use. If you get the winch to work, could be just the f/r switch.

Yes, I went from the positive side of the battery directly to the "blue post" on the winch and it sparked like a direct short.
