Default New ecm worked.

Got the new ecm and it worked . Charging at 13.2 to 14.5 v .. thanks.. have another issue also. There is a small red wire that splits into 2 coming from the solenoid that the shop put a fuse setup on when they did the recall years ago. The wire seems to get really warm when starting the engine and if I wiggle it on the solenoid end it will shut down. Any idea why this wire gets warm/soft when starting and is this normal???? I'm going to see if the connector is ok on the solenoid end, possibly a loose crimp.. thanks.

Glad the ecm solved the charging problem. Can't remember all the updates but the solenoid did change to this one.Polaris Sportsman Ranger Scrambler Starter Relay Switch 4011251 New | eBay And I guess you're talking about the fusible link. If it's cutting power when you move it,then probably need to replace it also.New Polaris 2202147 Fusible Link Kit | eBay

The dealer put a blade type fuse in the line where the issue is. I'll unwrap it and check the connections and replace if necessary.. when turning over the engine the wire gets a bit warm if you crank it for a while. Is this normal.. I'm assuming this wire goes to the starter along with the main starter positive wire? It starts and runs great. Had to crank it over longer than usual as it sat since last fall with no gas in it.. seems to cool down a little after its running.. thanks for your wisdom in these issues..

No blade fuses! Dealer should have known better. Use a fusible link so you won't become stranded.

Default No blade fuses.

Thanks. I'll get one.. is it normal for that particular wire to get warm? Enough so it gets a little soft? They probably didn't use the right gauge wire for the fuse they installed.

Wrong gauge wire used is probably right if it gets warm and soft. The fusible link kit should provide the right gauge wire.

Default Back in business.

I replaced the spade fuse setup with a fusible link. Everything seems to be fine now. Thanks again for the tips. By the way, the dealer that installed the spade setup had a 30 amp fuse in it. The spare fuse they put on the battery hold down was a 40 amp. Wow! Glad it didn't burn up. Thks again.
