So I replaced my CDI, regulator, starter relay, and ignition coil thinking it would solve my problems with getting my quad to start. It now tries to start a lot faster but still won't start. I went and bought a new spark plug and still having the same issue. I then decided to try jumping it to see if I can get it to start and it started right up. I let it idle for about 5-10 minutes and then turned it off and went to try and start it again and now when I hit the start button the lights all go dim and it just clicks and my voltage drops really low around 4-5 volts and sometimes below 1 volt. I then jiggle electric cables coming from my brake lever and the lights all come back on bright and then I hit the start button again and it all goes back dim.

It seems like I having trouble with my brake relay switch. Does anyone have any idea on best way to address this issue. I bought a brand new battery with an upgrade from the 12N9 to a 12N12. When running the for wheeler is reading 14.7 volts so I know it's charging the battery back.

When I have the key turned on and the lights go dim if I disconnect the brake cable it jumps up to 12 volts.

 

Possible ground issue...but without quad info not mush more can be done...

First I'd visually verify the connections of the wires you're wiggling...sounds like a bad connection. If you can't "see" the problem then I'd get out an OHMs tester and start looking for resistance.


I'd also think about pulling or testing the amp draw on that starter...does it consistently start on a jump?
