Thank yall for having me... I have an 05 honda 350 rancher es 4x4. I went in a months time from electric starting to no neutral light, e shift working great to manual shift. I've replaced the angle sensor and shift motor also brought the battery up to 100% BUT I'm only pulling 10.3 volts...is the 10.3v not enough to pull a strong enough current? I have not went after the neutral safety sensor but I wanted to cover my bases before I just started jerking sensors and parts. I appreciate yalls time and any help in this, I would be grateful.

 

Welcome . I'm not to knowledgeable on the rest of the questions, but, for the battery, even though it's for the quad, it still should be at 13.something I believe, all 12v read that when working properly. Normally anything 11 and under means your battery is shot.

 

I think Jasonstugis may be referring to the voltage at the shift motor, and I think the motor is 9v for reasons best known to Honda.

The neutral light will be worked off the rotary switch inside the alternator case and if the N is showing on the digital display, this is working so, if the starter is locked out, the fault is in the wiring. If the rotary switch isn't working I don't think the ES will either.

The 05 is new enough to show any ES faults up on the digital display as fault codes, the gear indicator should start flashing a "Morse code" to tell you what is wrong with the system. This will flash anyway if you change "by hand" as the system can't weigh up why the angle sensor picked up a signal when nobody pressed an ES button.
