Red face Manco Talon - Linhai 260cc - Oil in air filter box

I have an '05 that ran well in July when used a little, then stored it until 19th of this month. very hard to start and runs really bad when going. It was used a little by my son until it died. Started checking it out and found the air box full of oil and crank nearly empty. Need to get back out there to check the compression and I probably need to check the crankcase filter. Just wondering if others here might have any suggestions on what to look at?
Thanks in advance for any ideas that might be offered.

Robert

Do A compression test, anything under 8:1 it WILL be rings, we have changed every 6 to 8 weeks in the summer before we switched to foam filters. Hard to start and poor tick over is also a symptom of worn rings.
The oil in the air box blows in from the cam cover and is caused by excessive crankcase pressure due to work or stuck rings.
Not very environmentally freindly but we run the breather out the back over the gearbox not into the air filter.
