Default 400ex clutch hub & basket issue

My clutch started slipping pretty bad the other day. I didn't think much of it. I went and drained the oil out of it and it looked metalic, but if you felt it in your fingers it didn't feel like there was metal in it at all. I got the cover off, and the basket, hub, and cover plate are all rusty!! I am not sure how that even happens, But this bike has a lot of abuse on it. The hub was pretty worn out so it will get repaced, it also has the worst rust on it. Not even sure what I got myself into buying this bike. But the basket is completly fine, not over worn or anything. But it is still seems like its rust. Only, when I feel over the spots that look rusty, They feel just as smooth as the rest. Not sure what the deal is with this thing. Any ideas?

When you say abused that could mean a lot of things. Using the wrong oil such as car oil with friction modifiers in it that can cause slipping, infrequent oil changes, excessive heat, water in the oil.
