I've never ridden with an xplorer 250, but I hight doubt that it would keep up with a Wolverine, and least not if the guy on the Wolverine wanted to get away from you. You have to remember that the Wolverine is one of the fastest and quickest 4x4's you can buy.

Wolverine wont touch the 400cc Xplorer, but im certain it will beat a 250cc though.I think it has the same motor as the Warrior?

I've heard alot of people say that the 400 X was must faster than a Wolverine, and I guess in theory it should be.
Two weeks ago we were out riding and met up with some other guys and there was an Xplorer there, but he was riding double so I dodn't get a chance to see what his quad ran like. However, while we were playing around in a pit it was clear that he couldn't climb nearly as well as the Wolverine. It was a really soft sand hill with a fairly steep entry angle. I couldn't make it to the top, but he tried about ten times and could only get alittle better then half way as far as I was getting.
My buddy who was with me thought that it was because of the steep approach angle. The Xplorer obviously didn't like the rough approach and would bottom out front and rear and lose lots of speed.
I'm looking forward to running into the guy again, maybe we get a chance to better compare the quads.

It is close in the woods the 250 xplorer 2 stroke is about as powerfull as a 350 4 stroke. I was very able to keep up with a Wolverine. he got me on top speed. but I gave him a run for his money.
A 400 xplorer will wipe out a Wolverine in any conditions.

Any condition except, apparently, hill climbing.
I saw the same guy I talked about earlier try another long, steep, but much firmer sand hill and he couldn't crest the top. I can climb it and wheely at the top of it.
I really hope I get a chance to do some better comparisons soon.
As for the 250 keeping up with the Wolverine in the woods...the guy on the Wolverine needs to learn how to use it.

Theres no way a Wolverine can out climb the Xplorer 400.

I guess if you're a Polaris lover then you'd have to see it to believe it.
I won't try and say that in every possible situation a Wolverine will out climb an Xplorer, because I don't know for sure that that's true, but I can honestly say that the two examples I gave above are true.
I also have to add that I have 25" Dunlops on my Wolverine, and it climbs MUCH better in the sand with those tires than the stock 23s.
I also must say that if you think that a Wolverine can't climb well then it's because you don't have much expirence with them. With the 25" tires it climbs at least as well as a Rubicon, if not better, which is to say it's the best climbing 4x4 I have ever seen.
