250 xplorer vs. wolverine
#13
Ive owned both a wolverine and a scrambler. The wolverine is a great super reliable machine but there is no way that the wolverine will out climb a scrambler. The Scrambler is by far the best performing 4x4 at the moment but not the most reliable and certainly not as relaible as the wolverine.

Yes newfie the wolverine is a great machine but to say it is a better climber I have to disagree, the 400 xplr have alot more power and the wheel speed comes on quick and also a better 4x4 system, look at the N.Y atv pulls and see how many times the 400 xpl has won. Maybe you are the better driver but I can`t imagine a wolverine climbing better I think you should trade quads and try it yourself then tell us. I think then you will have a whole different view .

You guys might be absolutly right. I was only talking about quads that I have personally seen in action.
The only time I saw a Scrambler (5004x4) it broke down on its first run up the hill. Something inside the cases let go. I believe Polaris has that problem fixed now with the 2001's.
As for the thing about better drivers-there's not much to climbing a hill with a Polaris. Gas it and go.
About the sled pulls. I think hill climbing in sand is a very different thing. My buddies Rubicon can easily leave me behind in a drag race on a flat surface such as a dirt or paved road, but not dragging up hill.
I can't explain the results, I'm not trying to use this to prove that the Xplorer is not a good quad, and I'm not saying that an Xplorer won't outrun a Wolverine. All I can say is that there was a hill he couldn't get up that we climb regularly. He must have got a fright on that one because he only tried it once.
More important was the hill with the soft sand that nobody could climb. He made repeated tries on that, was very determined to get as high I was going and never came close.
If I run into the guy on the weekend and we get a chance to do some other comparisons I'll gladly let you know what I find out.
