Default Raptor 700 how much does tranny rebuild cost

I want to get a Yamaha raptor 700 but it has a broken third gear and I would like to know if just the one gear is replaceable or if I need to get the whole transmission rebuilt and how much would that cost any help is greatly appreciated.

Haven't done a Yamaha, but have rebuilt at least half a dozen Honda 500 gearboxes plus the odd Honda 250 and Suzuki 400, and you only need the gears that are broken or worn, plus any worn sliding dogs and bent shift forks. You will find out what you need when you get it stripped down. It is about the biggest job on a Quad, so will not be cheap to fix.

Surely there are ATV salvage yards out there that might have a used transmission for your Raptor 700. I should think there would be a good market for used ATV parts, just like there is for cars.

The quad drives just third gear has one tooth broken otherwise it's all good. So is it possible to just get third gear replaced or do I need to replace all of them?

Fix it yourself. The part won't be a lot. Just be prepared, to find more damage once opened up. That's why you are going to buy it as a "bargain". Right?

Fix it yourself. Not sure about that hydrex. Gearbox repairs are the most difficult job on Quads, some (like Suzuki gearbox oilways) even have traps for the unwary that can lead to gearbox failure if not assembled very carefully. As Bernhard had to ask, he may not have the experience.
