I rode my 250 really hard up a hill and a heard a grinding noise. Now my left wheel has no power. Any suggestions?

The splines have gone in the hub. If you are lucky you will just need a new hub, but if the shaft splines have gone, either weld the hub on, or buy a new shaft. The hub has to come off to change the rear wheel bearings and you won't be able to if you weld it on. Also the 250 rear brake drum has a nasty habit of seizing onto the shaft and it is a lot easier to get off if you can slide the whole shaft out.

Default Shaft?

So are you saying it is a better idea to just buy a new shaft?

No, take the hub off, check the splines, you may just need a new hub, If the shaft splines are also worn out, you then can decide if you want to go for a new shaft or weld.

Take the back wheel off, remove the cotter pin and undo the big nut.
