Default Trx250ex valve issues

I was given a trx250ex with stripped thread that hold the rocker cover down. Took a thread repair tap to the bolt holes that where damaged and cleaned the up enough to hold to see if the bike would crank and run. But every time I try and crank the motor the push rods come out of the cups on the rocker arms. There are two bolts missing above the rocker arm shafts. Are these bolts required to hold tension on rockers shafts?

Take the rocker cover off, check the valves and pushrods are OK. Fit thread inserts in all stripped threads and find some bolts of the right length to replace those missing ones. Re-fit the cover with the piston at TDC on the compression stroke and set the valve clearances. If it doesn't work right then, your timing may be out, with bent valves etc. The 250 engine is prone to broken cam chain tensioners.
