Can't find a decent Ozark- any other good suggestions?
#1
I am looking for a smaller quad. The recon and ozark seem pretty good. Any other suggestions in this size or slightly larger? I need more options. It is proving fairly difficult to find a decent used ozark in my neck of the woods. Thanks.

The Honda 250 is a good quad, they have made it for almost 20 years. It is Honda's idea of a "budget" machine and has no crankshaft balancer, so vibrates, no replaceable oil filter and a slide carb instead of a CD one. So compared to other Hondas is a bit harsh, but is as rugged and reliable as the rest of the Honda range. The 300 was better, but they are all over 17 years old. The old Kawasaki 220, 250s and 300s were OK, but I believe they now re-badge a Taiwanese bike as a Kawasaki 250. Not sure what Yamaha are doing, they used to make good 250s, but change names, and models disappear and reappear in their range so regularly, that it is hard to know what they have.

Yamaha Beartracker is another one to look at. Its actually physically slightly larger than the Ozark and Recon but also a 250cc 2wd foot-shift machine. You could go with a 2wd Honda Rancher 350, they're not much more expensive than the 250cc quads. It was also made in a 4x4 version but it was full-time 4x4 with no way to disengage it. You can get the Rancher in both foot shift and electric shift just like the Recon. You get a little more legroom with the Rancher as well.
