Hello..when I bench test my starter the bendix gear shoots out and returns fine but when I pit back in machine it just spins and does nothing ..please help. I've done many searche's on this and came up with nothing

 

Not being under a load may have a lot to do with it being able to kick in and out. Either the battery may be suspect,but you can have it load tested it to rule it out. If the battery is strong enough then the starter may need to be replaced.https://www.dbelectrical.com/product...s-touring.html

Just figured out that my starter is in fact engaging the flywheel how're the flywheel is no longer connected to motor !! It just spins and spins..how can this be?!?!?! Thanks

 

You don't say what year model(last one I worked on was a 2011 model) but sounds like the flywheel key(item#6) sheared and the flywheel's just spinning on the shaft.

 

It's a 2009. First yearr..I think u are right
