starter solenoid overheating

i have a polaris sportsman 500 ho 2006. i install a new battery recently . When i try to start the engine , look like a missing some power and the solenoid come very very hot and a whistle noise come out of it. It is because a have a solenoid problem and it's refuse to crank the engine ?

I've heard them click a lot but never whistle..
Even though new a battery can still fail a load test. I'd eliminate that to begin with. Here's a good article on how to test.https://www.batterystuff.com/blog/ho...ry-is-bad.html Check that your connections at the battery and solenoid are good, free from any corrosion and have good contact. Same at the starter wire itself.A little corrosion can keep one from starting. Use a test light or meter to see if the solenoid is jumping power from the battery side to the starter side of the solenoid. If it's not sounds like the solenoid is faulty. If it's getting power to the starter wire,the starter may be the problem. Solenoids and starters are cheap on ebay and amazon if needed.https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...arter&_sacat=0
