Default my 2000 polaris 500ho wiln not go into 4x4.

The AWD light comes on but, the drive shaft from transmission will not turn. Grinding type sound in transmission. very quiet though. Speedo does work. Any ideas?

I'd jack the atv up,roll the rear tires and see if the prop shaft splines may have stripped on the transmission output shaft. This was one common thing that happened if the zerk wasn't greased regularly.Item#5 on the parts break down. Hopefully it's just that and not an internal transmission problem.

The Splines /in the shaft are fine. The output shaft from the transmission will not turn. Internal? How hard to fix? Thanks for the fast response!

This is something you'd really need a service manual to help in tear down and repair.2000 Polaris Sportsman 500 RSE Service Manual PDF Download
