Default 2007 Polaris Sportsman 700 Overheating

"Hot Engine" indicator appears after the engine runs in idle for about 5 minutes. Can someone help here?

Can be a number of things specially on these big twins. Dirty radiator is the most common problem, especially around the back behind the fan shroud. You may think it's clean, but a lot of people have had to take the fan off, remove the radiator to really flush one out. Also check that you're not loosing coolant at the weep hole on the water pump cover. If the area is wet, coolant level low,a water pump seal may be needed. Also the fan thermistor sensor(located on the head) may be faulty if the fan doesn't kick on before the hot light does. A faulty thermostat can cause problems along with a faulty radiator cap. You can get these 13 psi caps at most auto stores. I'd start with the radiator first after trying to purge any possible air pockets in the system. Just raise the front end, leave the radiator cap off while at an idle and see if the coolant level drops and the fan kicks on before the hot light.Next would be the radiator to make sure it's clean. The manual can help also because it goes step by step in eliminating problem areas along with tests on the thermistor,etc.2007 POLARIS SPORTSMAN 700 TWIN EFI 4X4 REPAIR MANUAL The parts break down shows the fan sensor and the thermostat.
