Default 1986 polaris trailboss no power

Hello I have a 1986 Polaris Trailboss 250 2x4.. i recently got it going and it seems to be stuck in low gear doesnt go as it should.. i had a local shop look at it and figured out it was the reverse override so when I hit the button in foward it would fix the issue.. ok great.. so they suggested to disconnect it so i did right near the handlebars I just unplugged it.. But now it doesnt work again.. the button gets stuck in and i tried to hook it back up but nothing.. so idk if I need to disconnect somewhere else.. not sure what to do!! HELP!!

Pretty old machine..All you have to disconnect or cut is the black wire from the over ride limiter module. Can't remember if this old machine had a limiter module under the tank or if it was incorporated into the cdi same as the ignition switch and left control switch kill wire. Our shop started in early 88,didn't work on too many of these older 86/87 models.

Ok well I did just disconnect the black wire but still didnt do anything.. before when we figured out the issue i was able to just hold in the button and it would come out of slow mo and I was able to have full speed.. now that i disconnected the wire I figured it would work and wouldnt be stuck in slow mo but with it disconnected it still is in slow mo.. can it be a clutch issue?belt?

Disconnected the black wire at the limiter module itself or at the over ride button on the handle bars?

The override button itself. It has the two prong looking thing

Trace this wiring down to the limiter module itself and disconnect its black wire.
