Polaris carb question
#1
I recently purchased a 1992 polaris trailboss 350l 2x4 that has a Mikuni carb stamped w1 over z2. Is this the right carb for the polaris and if not is there an aftermarket I can get or a newer mikuni that will work ?

The marks are just marks from the factory, not identification. This pdf fuel break down can show the two different type carbs used on the two strokes. Smaller VM32 for the 250/300 engines, the VM34 for the 350/400 carbs. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...U2gGlaHJWSIlbA Standard jetting for your VM34 was a 200 main jet,30 pilot jet. That may vary depending on altitude/temp. If your carb needs rebuilding/cleaning,these videos can help on these simple carbs.
Carb kits are cheap for these also.https://www.ebay.com/itm/Shindy-Carb...ZaAy9H&vxp=mtr Plenty of these carbs on ebay for around 45 bucks, but you' have to swap the manual choke lever for the cable type, plus swap jetting anyway..

so I probably should order a rebuild kit for the correct jets and order a new carb vvm34, change out manuel choke for cable choke. correct? Also I live in north texas should the jetting be the 200 main and 30 pilot?

Just get the kit if the carb isn't trashed out to where you can't just clean it and rebuild it. Don't think I've see one that couldn't unless it was physically broken. 200 main was too big imo to begin with especially for down here during the hot summers. 190 main was a good over all year round to use. Most cycle/atv shops have a selection of jets that you can buy individually or you can get them from jetsrus.https://www.jetsrus.com/a_jets_by_ca...2_main_Hex.htm IF the kit doesn't have a 190 jet in it..

Just turn the air screw(at the rear of the carb) out 1.5 turns from a lightly seated position. The center idle screw, adjust it in or out for a smooth idle. Should be simple if everything is right.

Mr.old Polaris tech got the new carb. Vm 34 but the intake side throat is about half an inch bigger than the original. Will that still work ? I'll have to find a carb adapter that will fit on the air box. Is that ok to do and how does that affect performance? Sorry so many questions but rooky.thx

Sens it back and just get the $18 carb rebuild kit like I mentioned. Some of these aftermarket carbs are not the same internal/external dimensions as the oem VM34SS carb that the manual calls for.https://www.ebay.com/itm/92-93-Polar...!US!-1&vxp=mtr
