Default 2010 polaris sportsman 500 oil change

Do I have to use Polaris branded oil or is there something equivalant that I can use that is just as good but maybe cheaper and closer ? Also what type of coolant does this machine take?

Any good full synthetic oil of the appropriate weight for the temperature you ride in is fine. 5W-40 would cover most places summer and winter. For coolant, I get the store brand 50/50 premix that's basically the same as Prestone. 60/40 would be even better. I imagine yours takes the same kind of anti-freeze/coolant as mine. Do you have an owner's manual?

Like jumbofrank said either 50/50 or 60/40(what most manuals call for now) will be ok. Oil brands, just take your choice as long as it's full synthetic and within weight range called for. Just get a cheap service manual as it goes further than any owners manual on service and repairs.2010 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. Service Manual PDF Download
