Default 2001 Polaris Magnum 325 4x4

I'm not ashamed to say this- I've never owned an automatic ATV. I've had manual shifting rides. I don't have a clue how to shift gears on my Magnum (on the fly) or do you have to? It takes low and high gears, but when I speed up it just whines like it wants to shift out. Help me please. I feel stupid, but I don't want to tear up my bike

NEVER shift on the fly. High is good for most riding, but stop and put it in Low if you're going really slow, like 5-10 MPH. ALWAYS use Low for heavy work like towing or plowing.
