My kid is going to buy a new ride this week. He is limited to $3800 out the door. He is 6'tall and weighs 160#. He has some riding experience. He is wanting to ride a variety of places including mountain roads, a desert race track, mud, snow, a lot of hunting where a rack will have to be added and such. I would appreciate your opinions and reasons behind your choices. Thanks

I'm getting my son a 250EX ($3779 out the door) because it has electric start, reverse, & shaft drive. I have a friend's Blaster here that I ride now and then and though it's an OK quad I don't think it's nearly as nice. The only reason you may want to consider a Blaster over the 250EX is if your son likes a manual clutch over the semi-auto on the EX. The Polaris I rode was a joke.

Hope this helps,

I to think you should go with the 250ex. I love my Blaster but it just doesnt seem to be very dependable and wouldnt really be great for a hunting machine.

I rode the 250EX today, awesome quad. I don't think you can go wrong with the Honda. Polaris is good, but the two-stroke isn't as nice. Never rode a blaster, but I heard they are nice. Personally, I like the auto-clutch. Goodluck.

Just bought my 10 year old girl a 250ex and its just about the right size for her.Looked at the trailblazer and it was more of a full sized atv, to big for my girl. Seems to me the ex would be kind of small for a 6 ft 160 pounder. I'm 6 ft when I ride my girls ex it seems real little to me.The ex has no racks but I believe you can get them for the trailblazer. The trailblazer is a lot wider and longer and weighs 100 pounds more than the ex. You can buy a trailbazer here for $3000+tax the 250ex is $3500+tax. I know nothing about the blaster.

sounds like your son will like the 250ex but hes going to want more quad in a short time. 3800 is a lot of money when he will probably need upgrade shortly. Do more research. is new your only option. Used 300ex will be cheaper and offer most the same goodies but more suited for a bigger person. 250ex suspension isnt the greatest. I like it more for my wife and younger kids even though i ride the heck out of it. later wil

How old is your son? If he's a youngin'- then I'd go with a 250ex. Great all around machine- But if he's the type of kid that wants power-

... don't buy any of those- get him a used 400ex.

now that's an AWESOME machine!

Where are you guys getting that price from-$3,800 for a new 250EX??? I was just at my dealer yesterday looking at 300EX's and I happened to look at the 250EX too, it was only $3,100 out the door! I asked the guy about the price and he said it was a new Honda deal that's out, but it's only for a limited time.

as big as your son is, i think a 250EX wouldn't suit him very good. Look for a used 300ex is my advice..i picked up my 00 for 3500 OTD. Used lightly, still had the little mold marks on the tires..
