StAtR and flashing wrench on 2002 Sportsman 700
#1
Hi, I just bought a 2002 Polaris Sportsman with just 1146 miles in it. It was fine when I test drove it however after I did a full tune up on it and got it up to about 10 mph the StAtR code came on with the flashing wrench. I took it on a 2 hr ride, shut it off numerous times and it fires right up and runs great. The code goes off intermitently during riding and then comes back on after a bit, however If the code is on and you stop it remains on at idle. I cant umagine it needs an entire ignition kit with this few miles.... can someone help me troubleshoot, hoping for a cheaper fix!

Welcome to the forum. Unhook the battery for a minute or two then see if the message is still there when you hook it back up. Sometimes our ATVs remember codes they shouldn't and that clears them if you're lucky. It could possibly work for this too but I don't know.
The wrench by itself could mean a lot of different things, including a maintenance reminder that was previously set for a certain number of hours, but I doubt it's that when it says statr too. What's the voltage at the battery when the engine is off, and when it's running? I hope it doesn't need the expensive ignition upgrade kit.
