2000 Scrambler 400 4x4 ( Heavier ? )
#1
I was just checking out the new 2000 Scrambler 400 4x4 specifications posted at the Polaris web site and they claim that the new 400 tips the scale at 541...just a pound lighter that the 500. At previously 519 lbs were did this new 22 lbs come from and why ?
If anything i would have rather seen a loss of 22 lbs ( if possible ) and a slighty higher sticker price ( if needed ).
How about a Scrambler 600 4 stroke 2x4 or Scrambler 500 2 stroke 2x4 for 2001 to compete with the Bombardier DS 650. Hey, you never know.

i just posted a topic very similar today. i noticed the weight difference as well. don't know if what i put was correct, i thought it said 517lbs for '99 and 542lbs for '00. its around there somewhere. anyhow, yeah, where does this extra weight come from??? the only difference at all that i know of is the rear suspension went from 8.8" of travel to 10.2" for '00. i would sure hope that that 1.4" of suspension gain would not add like 20+ lbs. does anyone know the answer to this? maybe it is the difference in height of the shock. i know its the same shock... fox. does this added 1.4" of travel make a big difference? if not, i am surely going with a '99 because i can get one for about $300 cheaper, maybe more, and i think the '99 is a hell of alot better looking. don't care for the all one color of the '00
