New Wolverine/Raptor with I.R.S. looks like TimmyBoy A-arms and extended Half-shafts for an extra $2,000?

This thing looks cool, Power plus Suspension, but still has a typical Japanese case of being too small/narrow. My DS is just the right size out here in New Mexico, I wish it had I.R.S. ( I actually found two trees growing close enough together yesterday that I had to slow down to go between them!) Every serious racer is pushing 48 to 50 inches wide, no matter what some of the young narrow-minds on here say.
So, $2 grand for a TimmyBoy wide track treatment? Eight A-arms, 4 shocks, 4 half-shafts,
front brakelines and tierods,,,hmmm $2 grand might be wholesale...

I have owned Yamaha dirtbikes, and have a deposit on the next Raptor, Black & White, coming into Deming Cycle Center. I am a Free agent, with no commitment or allegence to any brand. I am interested in Yamahas and have always liked their approach to design and engineering. In contrast I have always found Honda rather convoluted, going about things in a less logical way. Polaris were fun and easy, but I have outgrown them. My DS is a hot ride, just a little heavy.
I also think that Yamaha might be the first ATV manufacturer who might, maybe just almost ready to PULL ITS' HEAD OUT OF ITS' A$$!! Simply, Quads are technological dinosaurs. They are expensive pieces of mid 20th century engineering. I feel that the bashers are ALL right! We are riding a bunch of overpriced, underpowered, bad handling, overweight, unreliable, junk. Glimmers of what it could be like shine through the muck on certain models. Suspension of a Sportsman, Power of a DS or a Raptor, weight of a 400EX, etc. If the R&D departments would burn the midnight oil once in a while, maybe 15 year old designs like the Honda CR and Banshee wouldn't be considered "State of the Art".
I've had a lot of sports and hobbies, and this is the best,,, with the worst equipment. It's like being into skiing in the 50's or dirtbikes in the early 70's. But things could change,,,quickly,, and Yamaha could lead the way.
They have extensive racing history, and great get with it attitude,,, once they decide to get with it.
The YZ is a testament to their abilities. and just five years before was the DT. It is hard to believe they came from the same company.
I really, really hope Yamaha is the one to pull us out of the dark ages and into REAL
Performance ATV's.
So, what's your next ATV gonna be like?

Time for a geography lesson. New Mexico, not Mexico. Mexico is a dirty, impovrished, politically corrupt country south of the U.S. Border.(About 100 miles south of here).
New Mexico is a dirty, impovrished, politically corrupt State in the United States between Texas and Arizona. The first atomic bomb was exploded here. 2 of our National Laboratories, Los Alamos (burned last summer) and Sandia Labs are here. The Waste Isolation Pilot project is here (that's where they dump nuclear waste). When Bugs Bunny makes that wrong turn in Albuquerque, that's in New Mexico, along with Santa Fe and Taos (both really far from here).
And of course, Roswell, home of Alien spacecraft wrecks and startrek freakazoids, is one of our major attractions. Can I book that Holiday for you now Sir?
And yeah, I need a digital camera so I can take pictures of the local attractions. But seriously, Southwest New Mexico where I live is very cool, very few people, lots of mountains, lots of trails due to mining. Copper is still very big here, with huge open pit mines, but there are thousands of small silver and gold mines scattered through the hills, all with really bad roads, perfect for 4-wheeling and exploring. And almost all in National Forest.
Ranchers with private land don't like anybody,
even non-environmentalists like us. So even though there is a lot of BLM land leased for grazing, and we are technically allowed to ride there, it is usually blocked by pieces of private land. So the Gila National Forest is our best bet.

Why did u mention the Wolverine in your topic? Thats why I opened your message. Were u planning on buying one or did you own one before? Living in such a dry climate I suppose you wouldn't have much use for a 4by. I would really like to visit some day and probably would have to rent an ATV if there are any places that do that in your area. It sounds like an adventure to me! I'd really like to visit Los Vegas sometime because I seen in an issue of Dirt Wheels that they do rent atv's there that bring you out into the desert for some good dessert riding.. Thanks for that little geography lesson there fourlix. I've never even come close to going down south but will soon enough..

Wrong!!!
Look at the guys that race in the woods, not on the MX track....
Sometimes the narrow minds are the people that don't venture out of the familiarity of their "home" riding area.
Why don't you make a trip to the East and enter your DS in a Gran Prix, Harescramble, or GNCC...
In fact, look at http://www.gnccracing.com/ or MHSC and tell me how many Bombardier entry's you see in those events. And if you do find one, pay close attention to it's race times. Also rest assured that even the pro riders aren't running anywhere near 50" wide.
Some of us like to ride trails that you can't drive a truck thru...
