I ordered 20x11x9 ITP Holeshots on .190 Douglas' for my Raptor thinking they might be more predictable sliding and less "tippee". Well they slide a little easier but they are 1 1/2 inches taller than the factory ones. Is this normal? Are all aftermarket tires bigger than thier advertised size or did I get an odd-ball set? I had flipped the rear linkage but now I'm back to factory height. I want some tires that are the same size as factory, that slide easier, and still have good forward bite. Am I asking too much? Any opinions or experiences appreciated.

I think you might be better off keeping your tires and getting a wider axle. The narrow rear axle on the Raptor increases weight transfer to the outside wheel, increasing traction, tippiness, and making slides harder and less predictable. For starts, match the width of the front. You can't fit between trees any better because your back end is narrower than your front!
First mod to a Raptor, even the track out. Our Raptor isn't here yet, but the Durablue Eliminator 2+2 axle is waiting in the quadport with the nerf bars. Then we'll see what it needs next. What's it gonna take for the Raptor to kick the DS's a$$???

 

I've got a 2+2 Lonestar on it already. I love the foreward bite of the stock tires but they are unpredictable sliders. What I'm looking for is a tire that slides as easy as an 18" flat tracker, has the forward bite of the factory Dunlops, and are 20" tall for some reasonable ground clearance. I think i'm looking for a tire that doesn't exist.

 

I love my razr's, they slide great, hook up great, and are pretty predictable. I have the 18 inch MX ones though, so there is very little sidewall flex. I measured my tires and they are the 18 inch ones and they are really 18 inch tall. Maybe they did send you the wrong ones. I dont know how much better razr's would do than the holeshots on the raptor though.

 

If you want to stay with 20" tires try the 22" Bandit X/Cs. They only measure 20 1/2" tall but they are marked as 22". I wanted 22" and I had to send them back, but they were my first choice. I can't promise you they will behave the way that you want but they are a harder rubber compound than the HoleShots and the thread doesn't look like it should get as much traction.

Order you tires from Rocky Mountain ATV and ask for Star. The girls on the phones don't have the tire heights and weights but they do maintain a database of that info. Star will be able to tell you the actual height range on any tire that they sell. She told me that the 22" Bandits run between 20" and 20 1/2", so I had to go with my 2nd choice, the 22" Razrs.

I have Lone star 2+2, and 22" Spidertracs. There great for trail riding, Hill climing.
