Default arctic cat 250 doesn't like water

my dad has a 2003 arctic cat 250 4x4. it runs fine until we hit a puddle. it wont rev up before it shuts down and wont restart until a few minutes have passed. when it does restart the RPM jumps real high before calming back down. i'm wondering if it has anything to do with one of the control units mounted on the right rear wheel well? any insight would be helpful

Definitely sounds like an electrical problem.

I would carefully inspect every electrical connection that can get wet when running through a puddle.

after this happens have you checked for water in the carb and airbox? Sounds more like water in the carb
