Default Wiring question

Hey
My switch is faulty so I want to join the required wires together .I'm not sure if the attached writing diagram is spot on, but it looks like what I have . Can anyone suggest which wires to the switch so I need to connect? What has me stumped is the earth; not sure why it goes to the switch.

Thanks
Dean

If you trace the CDI wires, they don't go to the battery anywhere, AC ignition systems will run fine with no battery. However the ignition needs to be switched off to stop the engine, so there are two separate switches in the key switch body, one switches "live" (red) to anything needing it, the other earths the kill wire (black/white) from the CDI
