What is a Tao Tao Rhino in CC's ?
#1
My new 250 Rhino is a 200cc engine. I've read that it's actually a 125cc or maybe a 150cc with a big bore kit. What is this thing anyway??? And exactly what Honda engine is it a clone of?
Thanks!!

See if you can find the engine number, this usually includes a code for the "family" it comes from. I'm not too well up on Honda engines but they made CB125 to CB200 engines which were overhead cam, the CB family was replaced by a CG125 which was a pushrod engine.

It would be unlikely that the Chinese engine makers would simply use a bigger cylinder to get from 125 to 200cc. They would probably be using a long stroke crankshaft and rod as well. Why should it matter? In theory the whole engine will have been re-engineered for such an increase in capacity. Certainly, if it is a CB200 clone, Honda would have made sure any extra strength required was built into the 200cc version's design. If the Chinese have "stretched" a CG 125 engine, they may not have been as diligent.
