hi I'm new to the forum but my problem is I have spark,fuel,compression but machine will only crank will not run. Any ideas what the problem might be. cleaned old carb,however i broke a leg for the float pin.so i replaced it with a new carb.drained and replaced fuel.tried starting fluid in carb. everything i've tried doesn't get it to run only cranks.

 

Fit a new plug. If that doesn't work, check compression with a tester, needs to be 90psi. Check valve timing, check the piston is at TDC (through the plug hole) when the timing mark on the flywheel says it is.

 

have installed new plug,checked compression with gauge [96 psi],haven't checked valve position. the spark i'm getting is orange /yellow in the tester.should it be blue?

 

Yellow normally means weak spark. A spark testor should also check how big a gap the spark will jump. I usually look for a blue spark over a .100 gap. As a minium. Do the other tests mentioned to be sure engine is set up correctly.

 

weak spark,maybe a bad coil?
