just put this motor back together, and its doing the same thing as when i took it in to get work done. the dealership said 2nd gear was out and i bought a new one and put it in it didn't fix it.
when riding it and giving it full throttle you can watch the chain bouncing horribly. it feels like it slips then grabs. it does it in all the gears but worse in 1st, 2nd, and third if easy on the throttle it feels fine. what in the world could this be its has a new gear in it. every thing it the motor looked great. any insight to this would be great as my local is an dealership idiot.

It sounds like the chain is actually slipping on the sprockets.

You must own the worlds worst raptor. If any of this stuff is true, I'd look to the clutch slipping. I would also find a different mechanic.

sucks dude. before you torch the machine, i'd start w/ the basics-- tho' it is drivetrain, don't assume it is the tranny. because you trashed 2 gear, some other things may have been damaged. for example:

is the chain good? ie no bent links/pins etc ?

front counterdrive sproket in good condition? not loose, missing tooth?

is REAR sprocket good also? teeth? bent?

and finally, as silly as it may seem, is the AXLE in alignment? equal spacing on alignment marks? rear bearing and bearing carrier OK?

hey, just some places to think about and pretty common oversights. good luck, bro'. out.

Look at the clutch! There have been many Raptor owners with clutch problems. I bet it's the clutch, just my $.02.

I'm getting ready to order mine:

Barnett Kevlar clutch kit - prt # YPK-28D
Includes- Kevlar friction plates, steel drive plates and heavy duty springs.

Hope this helps, good luck.

hey guys thanks for replying. the clutch is brand new, same with the chain and sprockets. dealer put the chain on the last chain broke and trashed the rear sprocket so they replaced them because they were faulty. ever since they did this it has acted like the chain is slipping. the chain alignment is right on and all the bearings are tight in the rear.
any more thoughts thanks again D.J.

Sounds like you have done some internal damage if it was bad enough to break the chain. Maybe something with the internal works of the main shaft.
