Purchased 2000 Magnum 500 Today
#1
Went to work and on the way, saw a 500 Mag sitting in the parking lot with a for sale sign. It was a 2000 Mag 500 4x4 with 300 miles and 32.5 hours. I asked the price and the guy said, $4500. I asked if it was firm and he said it belonged to a lady and he was just trying to sell it for her. I called her and she said it cost about $7000 with tax, etc. but needed to sell it. She offered to accept $4400 but was firm.
I bought it today and it is awesome. What a smooth suspension and incredible power. I am used to the honda 300 fourtrax and kaw bayou. Huge difference.
Is this a good price? Good bike?

The NADA book gives the following values:
low retail $3650
average retail $4800
high retail $5090
Sounds like you did just fine. The NADA address is as follows, incase you are interested.

It's a great machine with the exception of the rear axles have a tendency to break on the right side at the beginning of the splines by the hub. If this becomes a problem, I would suggest looking into an aftermarket axle such as Dura-Blue. There are other quality axles out there, but haven't had the need to buy one for any of my machines so I can't think of any others at the moment. Enjoy the ride.

I ride with a guy that has a 2001 Magnum 500 and it runs great. No problems with it except the steering bushing came loose. A quick and pretty easy fix. They just took it off cleaned and re greased and it was fine. I seen it run over some big logs and steep hills with it. Has good power as well.
