You had the clutch cover off recently ? I had same problem theres a rod that has to line up with the clutch lifter plates for the auto clutch models ... Maybe even the real hand clutch ones ...

Advice

Hi, If it were ME I would put the trike on its side and give the shifter a little help from a big. The right way would be to take the right side cover off and check out the tranny gears, shift fork, etc. Make sure you have a service manual before you tear anything apart.
