1999 Honda recon
#1
I am new if there is already a thread posted for this i am sorry.
I have a general question about motors for the recon
I currently have a 1999 Honda recon i picked up out of a guys shed for 80 bucks. I was told the piston cracked so he cut it off (wrist pin was stuck) long story short he cut into the connecting rod and the crank is trash.
I found a motor on eBay for a 2002 recon foot shift. Will this motor work for my recon. I know that the 02's had an oil cooler so i would have to add that to make it work as it should.
Are their any difference in wiring mounting or anything else?

Cylinder head is totally different but I don't think that matters. Speedo is electronic on the late type, so the take off is an electronic sender (early speedos rarely work anyway), otherwise fairly similar. Honda have a habit of changing wiring plugs between models, so I can't guarantee the same plugs and sockets for alternator etc, but nothing someone who knows how to swap plugs can't handle.
