Hey everyone! New member here. Just picked up a 2006 Jianshe JS400 for free from a friend, thing is in great shape but not currently running. He said he was pushing snow with it and "it just died" and never really tried too hard to fix it.
Anyone out there have one of these units? Is this a common thing? Just looking for a starting point besides the usual check carb, spark etc.
Also I've read this model is a copy of the Yamaha Big Bear 400. After reviewing the service manual for both it looks like the parts might be almost completely the same. It's hard to find Jianshe parts but easy to find Big Bear parts. Any idea if these are completely compatible or maybe only some here and there?
By coincidence, someone was posting in the engine section about the Baja Wilderness Trail 400 being a Yamaha clone yesterday.
Your engine doesn't look very Yamaha to me but it is a while since I worked on a manual gearbox Yam, so can't quite remember how it differs, if it does. As you wrote yourself, a check for spark first, followed by a carb clean if it has a spark, may be all that is requred.
