My 94 fourtrax 300 started ticking and lost power in all gears. My buddy that was riding behind me said it would puff out a small amount of smoke when I would shift. Any suggestions on where to start?

s have you checked your valve clearance
My 1995 Honda TRX300 quad built up a shortcoming when down the lower part of the field (obviously!). It runs fine in tick over however when I open up the choke it battles lastly bites the dust. There is no force at everything except tick over is as ordinary. I've checked the fuel channel at the tank and furthermore done a minor strip down of the carb. I have blown compacted air through planes and fuel lines yet the issue endures. I actually presume soil in the carbureter however before I take it totally to pieces, could it be something else? If you have already blown the jets out properly, take the carb dashpot top off and check the diaphragm for holes. I had a 500 Honda last week and both the needle had worn through and the diaphragm was holed. Needle wear isn't as common on 300/350 carbs but your diaphragm is 26 years old.
