Hello,
I acquired an 84 Honda 200M today and am having problems shifting. Right now I have it up on blocks and bypassed the neutral switch so I can use the electric start. It took some carb cleaning and electrical fixes but it sounds great.
The problem now comes to the transmission. I can shift the transmission between 3rd, 4th, & 5th with no problem, but I can not get the trans to shift any lower than 3rd. Any thoughts on how to fix that?

 

If the clutch is working properly, your problem is going to be the selector mechanism or the gears themselves. All you can do is remove the clutch housing and take a look at the selector mechanism. If there are no obvious faults, e.g. a loose star wheel is common on Hondas, it is deeper inside, so the selector forks and gears will have to come out.
